The largest project ER Stuebner Inc was awarded in 2011 and one of the largest in company history is Stroudsburg High School. We broke ground and began work on 300,000+ sq ft of additions and renovations to the structure in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. The project is a five (5) phase process with substantial completion expected in 2014. The space will become the home of the 1,800 students. Recently Stuebner completed and opened a state-of-the-art 24,000 sq ft gymnasium for SHS.

The project calls for 150,700 square feet of renovations to the existing High School. The additional 183,100 square feet of work is new construction additions. It includes both a one-story and two-story structure consisting of steel framing, masonry veneer (with masonry backup), metal panel veneer (with steel backup) and built up roofing over a taper insulation system. The project is currently on pace to achieve LEED ‘Silver’ Certification per project specifications.

Stuebner’s Project Team for Stroudsburg High School comprised of Project Executive, Paul Fries, Project Manager, Jeffrey Donahue, and Superintendent, William Smith. With 60+ years of collective construction experience, they each have a history of delivering projects which shape the lives of students, teachers, administrators and the surrounding community.

ER Stuebner Inc is a Merit-shop General Contractor. We have worked with established industry organizations like Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) for the past several decades. ABC is a national organization which represents 23,000 merit shop construction firms across the country.

We pride ourselves in being forward thinking; being able to see potential issues ahead of time and having solutions in place before they occur. Stuebner stays in tune with macro issues going on within our industry and ABC has been an excellent resource of information for Stuebner and our sub-contractors. Each week ABC provides weekly updates on areas that effect all of us in the construction industry: Workplace Labor, Health, Safety, Procurement, Fiscal Policy and Environmental Regulations. We stay ahead of the curve by understanding where the industry is trending.

Take a look at ABC’s Weekly Legislative UPDATE to make sure your firm is staying ahead of the curve and is aware of issues going on today.

The world of Construction can often be very cut-throat. It is rare we have the opportunity (or time) to reflect on our past or even our recent past. In 2008 we and Castle Drawbridge LLC set out on a joint venture to construct an extended-stay Hotel, Staybridge Suites, in South-East Pennsylvania. The project was a GMP contract that was delivered 1-month prior to expected completion and over 10% under budget.

Our methodology for this streamlined delivery was simple; control project quality, schedule and cost. Recently we caught up with the executive team at Castle Drawbridge, here are some of their kind words.

One of the largest projects ER Stuebner Inc was awarded in 2011 was Bishop McDevitt High School. We broke ground and began work on the 182,000 sq ft High School in April of 2011 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. While the project is expected to be completed in December 2012, substantial progress has been made thus far. The 87-acre space will become the home of the Crusaders for years to come. As always our goal is not only deliver a project where the students and faculty can safely learn, but develop a place for them to excel.

The 40 classroom building is set to include a 120-seat Parish Chapel, 1,200-seat Auditorium, 1,600-seat Gymnasium and a 300-seat Cafeteria. Upon completion the school will be three-stories of brick & cast stone veneer exterior supported by structural steel with TPO roofing. Between the tech-driven science laboratory, computer labs, art studio and economic laboratory will be an integrated sprinkler system throughout the school. The signature touch of the project will be a forty foot Cross that will extend to an elevation of over 100′ above the school entrance and be a highlight of both the school and surrounding community.

Stuebner’s Project Team is comprised of Project Executive, Douglas George, Senior Project Manager, Michael Pickens, and Superintendent, Edward Baer. Besides their 65+ years of collective construction experience, each man has built a substantial portfolio of school projects for ER Stuebner and are eager to complete another school for which the students, teachers, Parish and community will be proud.

It is not often you will see operations at a General Contractor come to a screeching halt, especially voluntarily, mid-day with the holiday season winding down. However, Stuebner recently took the time to honor one of our own, Roy LaPearl and wish him our best as he concludes his 40+ year career at Stuebner. Beyond the celebration, the cake, the gifts, the ‘Thank You’ plaques and well wishes, there is the man and his story.

Roy began his tenure at Stuebner as a laborer, while Lyndon B. Johnson was still president and bell bottoms were just becoming popular (for the first time). Roy worked alongside original owners of Stuebner, Leonard Radwanski and Roy Smith, becoming a skilled carpenter and concrete finisher, eventually becoming a foreman. Through time, dedication to his craft and hard work, Roy continued his career at ERS by becoming a project superintendent in the 1980s. During Stuebner’s expansionary years, Roy’s role expanded as he became General Superintendent for all Construction Operations and Safety Director .

In most recent years Roy aided in forming the Stuebner Safety Committee and has played an integral role in the overall improvement of health & safety practices company wide. Since taking the position as safety director, each subsequent year has seen an improvement in industry related health & safety statistical ratings. He has set a strong foundation for which we can be proud of and continue to build upon.

From everyone at Stuebner, we thank Roy for his dedication, loyalty and time to our construction family. We were lucky to count him as one of our own and wish him a very happy (well deserved) retirement with his loving family.

Hope we see you again soon Roy!

Love,

Your Stuebner Family
